The Poet’s Voicebox is an immersive experience which aims to increase interest in poetry. The audio-visual approach achieved through the use of surround sound and film brings poetry to life creating an unforgettable experience for the user. The Poet’s Voicebox fills the gap between poetry and the digital world.
My name is Caoimhe! A lot of my art work and projects are inspired by animations that I adore or something that fuels my passion. I believe that as media creators we have a responsibility to make content that is conscious of diversity.
My FYP is focused on explaining the folklore of the 18th century Cork. Working with Michael Murphy together we have called our project Unboxing Tales. By using a Raspberry Pi and a tablet set up inside a box, we are creating a series of figurines that can be scanned and triggers an animation that shows how the creature interacted with people of the time. These figurines can be played with a provided board game that further educates the children on these creatures from that time. We are developing this project with the Nano Nagle center.
My name is Chris O'Brien and I am a 4th year Creative Digital Media student. My main areas of specialisation are graphic design, animation, film and photography and I hope to work in these fields upon completing my degree. My project is Wild Panoramics, working alongside fellow classmates Joe Nason and Darragh O'Neill. Wild Panoramics is web based application that aims to highlight Ireland's decommissioned lighthouses as tourist locations through use of 360 degree video and promotional videos, promoting the rich cultural history of these unique locations.
Hi I’m Claire! I’m a writer who is sorely passionate about filmmaking. I’m addicted to film! I’m amazed by the pseudo-realism of the screen which conjoins with the spiraling realms of imagination. I was chosen to join 2019 First Cut Youth Film Festival Q&A panel for their Spotlight Programme for emerging young filmmakers in their 20s. My film "Til Death Do Us Part" was shortlisted for Nano Con International Film Festival 2019 [NIFF] in Washington. Filmmaking is the art of dreaming and like Steven Spielberg I want to “dream for a living”.
My Final Year Project is “The Poet’s Voicebox”. The Poet's Voicebox is a system which aims to galvanize more interest in Poetry by bringing it to life! The Poet's Voicebox is an experience which promises to fully immerse the user by offering interactivity and a binaural visual display. There's a major gap for poetry in the digital world and we are devoted in bringing forth this powerful exchange. My role as part of this project is the director of the film. For me, filmmaking spawns from the very bedrock of poetry. My sources of inspiration stem from the works of Ingmar Bergman, Terence Davies, Maya Deren and Federico Fellini.
My name is Colm Moloney and I am a filmmaker. When I first started making films, I discovered an eagerness to always try out new styles of filming and editing, and that’s where the idea for CineSense came from. CineSense is a new form of cinematic storytelling that allows filmmakers to be more creative in the way they edit their movies. With the multi-screen format, movies can now be filmed with the intent on utilising all three screens at once in order to create a thrilling, immersive and unique experience.
Also, as for my role in the work groups, I would like to work with the video side of the Press and Social Media group.
I’ve been interested in photography for the past 6 years or so and have been shooting film for half of that. The process of shooting film slows you down and I believe that we all need that now and again with how quickly things change and how instant everything has become. For my final year project, I worked on a medical device with a paired application that will be adding support to patients suffering from long term illnesses. The main focus for it is IBD but the hope is that it could be adapted in the future for other illnesses.
Hi, my name is Don. I’m a final year student studying Creative digital Media. I chose this course because I have always had a big interest in art, design and music. My main focus of design is in motion graphics and visuals, leaning toward the more abstract, quirky side of things.
For my final year project, I am creating motion graphics for Nano Nagle place. It will about showcasing their educational programs, in particular their “Museum in a Box” which will be geared towards school children to teach them about the history of Cork in a fun, playful interactive way. I also will be creating logo animations for them.
My name is Darragh O Neill, I'm a 4th year Creative Digital Media Student, and my project is called Wild Panoramics.
I am doing the project with 2 other students in my class who are good friends of mine and who I've collaborated with on many projects before so it's always a pleasure. The project is all about promoting Ireland's decommissioned lighthouses, and informing the user of their rich histories.
The reason why I chose this subject matter is because there is a large interest in the restoration and reinvention of these lighthouses, and I believe there is a need and push for these once used lighthouses to be highlighted and reinvented in a different way.
The project is all about bringing focus and attention to Ireland's lighthouses and encouraging people to visit.
Wild Panoramics is a package web application that makes use of 360 degree camera footage to create a virtual informative and historical tour of specific Irish lighthouses.
Hello there, My name is Darren Murphy. A Creative Digital Media Student with a passion for Web Development, Motion Graphics and Design. A creative, logical and focused personality who enjoys challenges, new ideas and working working with people to solve problems and create engaging digital media content. My academic and professional experience has given me a strong base to learn and grow in the creative industries.
My Final Year Project is KnowledgeQuest. A web based treasure hunting app, designed as an interactive quest for 12-17 year olds when visiting learning centres. The app challenges users to find locations, through the giving of clues and a hot a cold indicator, acquire knowledge from the information revealed and validate that knowledge with a fun quiz, before seeking out more buried knowledge.
My personal interests include music (listening, playing and creating), art and playing video games. I am driven by my creativity and idea. My work is greatly influenced by my passions. My ideal creative digital media areas include 3D modelling and VR, graphic design and sound/music.
My FYP is titled “Mindful Bia”. It is a Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy tool with a corresponding Mobile Application for people with eating problems. The project mainly focuses on the psychological side effects of having an eating problem or disorder. The idea came from my own personal struggles and I wanted to create a support system through creativity to help people who are dealing with similar issues.
Hi my name is Elaine. I am a creative digital media student with an interest in graphic design, marketing and web development. For my final year project my group and I are creating Let’s Talk, an e-learning application to facilitate sexual education in the home. This application is a contemporary tool for parents to aid them in educating their children about puberty and sex. The application is targeted towards 8-12 year olds and their parents, taking the form of an interactive storybook. My main responsibility lay within the technical development of the ‘Let’s Talk ’web application.
Hi, I'm Evan and the project I'm involved in is The Poets Voice-box. With The Poets Voice-box we aim to provide an injection of energy into poetry in the audio visual domain. I'm a passionate video-maker and my role in this project is sound designer. Through extensive research and application of the skills that I've acquired over the past few years, I hope that my contribution to the project can help propel The Poets Voice-box to the success that my team and I feel it has the potential to reach.'
Creativity has always been a huge passion of mine. From a young age I would draw, colour, and create! I enjoy having an artistic approach in the world, I think this is a very important trait for any designer because it helps improve versatile creativity. For my Final Year Project I am working as part of a group to develop a new form of Sex Education for kids in the form of an App called “Let’s Talk” It takes a modern and fun approach to a topic which is so important from a young age.
My name is Joseph Nason, I’m an award-winning film maker studying Creative Digital Media; my main focus is in video production and photography. I regularly enter my creations into film festival both at home and Internationally with some success to date; having one of my films reach five International finals and has been screened in places such as the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Most recently, five of my short films screened in the Rory Gallagher Theatre as part of the International Student Documentary Festival with one of them winning best of Cork.
My final year project is called “Wild Panoramics” this is a collaboration between myself and two other students; we also happen to be very close friends and have worked together on many projects over our journey through college. The project focuses on promoting Ireland's decommissioned Lighthouses through a dedicated website and using the latest technologies such as 360-degree video. We see this project as a great tool that can be used within the tourism sector.

My name is Karl Morrissey. I started making movies with my friends on old camera phones as a 10-year-old boy in Kilkenny, but at that time my heart was too locked on becoming a footballer for Manchester United to notice what were evidently future-defining moments.
When I was 16, my friend made me watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy as he found it fundamentally crazy that I had never seen them before. As stupid as it sounds, my life changed forever from that moment, and for the better. I had found a passion - and it was to tell my own stories to a magnitude of a similar scale, and perhaps inspire others the way those movies inspired me.
I came to Cork ready to begin a long journey, both excited and scared about where it might take me. Something I never counted on was making a group of wonderful friends to share my journey with. I know I’ll leave college with a lot more than I came in with four years ago, but it’s those I met along the way that I’m most grateful for.
I worked on my final year project with two of my closest friends, a project we titled “Cinesense”. Together, we attempted to show film in a new and exciting way; one we hope will create a deeper immersion for the viewer. For my part, I produced one of two short films that will be showcased during our final exhibition. I hope you enjoy it.
Hi! My name is Katie and I’m a Creative Digital Media final year student. Way back when I was a nervous teenager filling in my CAO, I decided to put down this course as my first option not knowing what I specifically wanted from it. However, I knew I loved computers and I knew I loved eye-catching visual design so there was no question about it being the degree for me.
Throughout my four years, the love for graphic design, motion graphic design and web design continued to grow and flourish - so much so that I know that these three skills are what I want to focus on and make a living from once I leave college.
I am working with Patrick Kirwan for our final year project - we are in the process of creating an automatic pill dispenser which we named Pill Pal. Pill Pal is dedicated to aiding people with memory problems take their medicine at the correct time and in the correct quantities. The aim of this project is to increase the quality of life of elderly people suffering from mild memory problems, while at the same time demonstrating our individual skill sets.

My name is Katie Whelan and I’m a 4th-year creative digital media student. My main areas of interest are virtual reality and creating game environments. When I was on Erasmus in Darmstadt, Germany, I fell in love with 3D modeling and texturing. Storytelling has always been an important aspect of all my work but with virtual reality, you are fully immersed in the artist's world. My final year project is “Mindful Bia” and it is a virtual reality exposure therapy tool for patients with food allergies and eating disorders. My project's aim is to offer these patients a tool that can help them manage their anxiety towards food.

Hello, I'm Killian. I am mainly interested in the areas of Animation, Game Design, Video Editing, and Web Design. The Final Year Project I am working on is an Asymmetric Co-op Experience that will build upon communication between two people, the aim of project is to revolution team building by using the cutting-edge technology of VR. It features a range of different Obstacles in which two players will have to Cooperate with each other in order to overcome.
Hi, my name is Lauren Tobin and I aim to be a video editor, whether it’s for tv, movies etc. For as long as I can remember, I have been making and editing my own short films, whether it was completely by myself, or with my friends and family. Even though I have directed and filmed a few movies of my own, I have always felt most natural and myself when behind a computer editing and perfecting them. Due to all of this, Cinesense was created. Cinesense is a new method of watching films, storytelling and most importantly to me, a new way and style of editing. With the multi-screen format, and the intent to use all three screens at the same time, Cinesense offers a fresh style of creativity which creates an immersive and unique experience for the viewer. My name is Marguerite Butler, I am a 22 year old student from Tipperary studying Creative Digital Media in CIT. I am currently in my final year of the course. I chose to study this course because from a young age, I have been interested in creating art. As I got older I begun to take an interest in technology. So, when deciding which direction for college I wanted to take. Creative Digital Media was perfect as it gave me a balance to utilize my creative and analytical side. The past four years have been amazing to broaden my skills as a media creator.
For my final year project I am part of a group with Elaine Kirwan, Mark Collins and Hazel Lambe. Our idea is to create an app that helps educate children from ages 8-12 and their parents on sexual education. We chose this idea because we observed that there is a lack of awareness with regards to sexual education. The app takes the form of an interactive storybook. Characters will guide the child along a journey from childhood to adulthood. The application will have a child friendly interface and will help educate and encourage the children to talk about the topic.
Hi my name is Mark. I am a creative digital media student with an interest in graphic design, marketing and motion graphics. Hi, I’m Mary and I have an interest in all aspects of digital media with a special focus on digital marketing, design, web and game development. The project that I am working on deals with the important topics of climate change and sustainability. EcoRun is a 2D platformer game which aims to promote sustainable living and to promote the belief that everybody has the ability to make a change no matter how small the change be. EcoRun is designed to appeal to younger children and aid primary school teachers in educating their students about these broad and harrowing topics. The game aligns with the primary school Geography, Social, Environmental and Scientific education curriculum and is targeted towards first and second class primary school students and their teachers.
Hi yeah, my name is Michael, I love to travel, partake in outdoor activities, and find new adventures along the way. I have experience working in video production. I have found that nothing satisfies me more than meeting new people, developing new relationships, solving problems, and contributing to the overall growth of a business’s. Subjects of study during undergraduate degree included video/tv production, photography, audio technology, web design and development, 2D and 3D animation, e-learning, 3D game design and virtual reality. For my final year project. For my final year project I am working with Killian McSweeney and Richard Cross, to create VR Co-Op. It is a virtual reality team building experience where one player is in VR and the other player is on another device and they have to communicate in order to escape the Sci-Fi prison the experience is based in.
My 4 years at CIT gave me the skills I needed to make a career that I loved. I love doing projects that involve motion graphics, design and technology.
Tales Unboxed
For my Final year project, myself and my teammate Caoimhe created a device that teaches children and their families about the overlooked aspects of Irish folklore in the 18th century. The device takes the form of a wooden box that contains a screen, Raspberry Pi computer, a RFID scanner and three figurines of old Irish fairies with accompanying board games. The board games offer a play method of learning and once the character cards are scanned, an animation will be played offering more information about the folklore creature. I loved doing this project because I got to work with technology I never used before and I got to incorporate my skills in animation.
Our project is being worked in collaboration with Nano Nagle Place in Cork City.

My name is Patrick and I’m a 4th year Creative Digital Media student. My preferred areas of work are web development, physical computing, animation and game development.
For my Final Year Project, I am working with Katie Hennessy to create an automated medication dispenser.
From the beginning, I wanted to create something to increase the quality of life of elderly people living alone. We felt this would be a great project given the increasing number of elderly people living alone, and the increasing amount of medication they are taking.
Our project aims to create safer living conditions for elderly people, while showing off my skills in physical computing and web development.
I am a Creative Digital Media student with an interest in film, animation and photography.
The title of my final year project is EcoRun. This game addresses climate change, an issue that is very important topic right now. EcoRun is a 2D platformer game which aims to teach 1st and 2nd class students about sustainability and recycling. We have followed the school curriculum to ensure that this game is relevant to these students. I am in charge of the design and content for this game.

Hi Im Sean! and I am a 4th year Creative Digital Media student. My main areas of key interest and focus are in Product Design, UI/UX Design and Graphic Design. For my Final Year Project I developed Elemental, which is an interactive mobile platform targeted at helping creative people explore and discover more about the environment around them as well as finding creative inspiration from nature.
Elemental gives people a platform where they can explore the environment and discover elements of nature. Elemental encourages people to get out there and invigorate their work and projects in a more intuitive and practical way.
Hi, I'm Tony! I like working with all forms of digital media, and I am passionate about game and web development. Creative Digital Media has provided me with a wide range of skills which are valuable in the media industry, and I look forward to applying these skills to further develop my career. I took part in an Erasmus programme in second year of the degree. This was a fantastic experience for me from both a personal and academic perspective. It allowed me to develop my skills in an alternative environment while experiencing new cultures and meeting new people.
The name of my final year project is 'The Poet's Voicebox', which aims to bridge the gap between poetry and the digital world through an interactive audio-visual experience. I am responsible for all technical aspects of the project which involves developing the user interface and structure. This project allowed me to develop my web development skills and apply my server-side scripting knowledge.
My name is Adam Dwane, I am 22 years old and I am from Cork. I chose to do a graphic novel for my final year project that tells the story about a real life Irish hero; a priest who saved over 6 and a half thousand people from the Nazis in world war 2. Despite his great deeds his name has gone largely unrecognised so I wish to communicate his story in a form that is still relevant to younger audiences. For as long as I can remember I have always been interested in the stories and imagery of comic books, especially ones featuring superheroes, which is why for my project I decided to do a graphic novel telling the story of the real life hero; Hugh O’Flaherty.
I’m Adrian, I'm a designer. I like to design, illustrate, photograph, film, watch films, skate, go for walks, have a laugh, eat, listen to music, play music and so on. I love typography, making things look good (or try), communicating with people through different mediums, and learning. My favourite colour is black & white. My approach is research driven, and is the fundamental starting-point to inform my projects and what I do with a focus on attention to detail. I like to making ideas tangible.
My final year project revolves around The Paradox of Happiness. It is a research project that explores an alternative perspective about the pursuit of happiness and why we shouldn't.

I’m Caroline. I’m an illustrator, textile artist, environmentalist and creator of nice things. I’ve a keen interest in creating stories and conceptual images, with a focus on children’s book illustration. I have written and illustrated, “Going the Distance” to explore the topic of climate change and deliver it to children in a way that is hopeful, light and fun. The story centres around a girl who notices the weather getting worse due to fuel emissions so she must explore other ways to get around.
Sup Sup :] my name is David Murphy. I'm passionate about any aspect of design in general but my true devotion is to Branding, Illustration, Photography and Innovation. I love problem solving, creating concepts and using it to communicate and connect with an audience. I am a perfectionist, idea's man and people person who usually has trouble making it to another room without starting a conversation.
What I have chosen to do for my final year project is a self-expressive project about my personal experience of being homeless over the course of 2018. The reason I have chosen this topic is because in the summer of 2018 my family and I were greatly affected by the rising issue of homelessness in Ireland and spent the most of the year facing life and our daily routine with no house to go to :]

My name is Deborah Kingston. I am a Visual Communications student. I have a keen interest in typography and editorial design. I am very passionate about food. I love trying out new recipes and making up my own ones. My project is based around the notion that everyone experiences food in their own distinct way. We develop our own relationships and rituals around food throughout our lifetime. We have our own unique backgrounds and come from diverse cultures which shape these experiences. I am going to explore this topic to find interesting facts, anecdotes and tidbits so I can try to comprehend a subject which I have had a fascination with my whole life.
Everybody eats, but not everybody eats the same.
My name is Emma Ryan. I am a 22 year old Graphic designer and Illustrator. I also love doing collage and printmaking in my free time. With my love of these different styles I will be bringing a mix of these aspects of design into my Final Year Project.
For my final year project I am doing a guidebook to embarking on a J1 during a students time in college. In this guidebook, I will be using my experiences to give some useful info and tips to new and aspiring travellers. I wanted to use my love of travelling as a source of inspiration for this project.
Hello there, my name is Eoghan Wilkinson, an aspiring graphic designer. I am fascinated by design and inspired by the thought of change I can make in the world through it (it’s always good to think big, right?). I am passionate about everything I do and love, and push myself to improve as much as I can. An awareness of design has inspired me to constantly learn about the world, as put in the words of Michael Bierut; “Not everything is design. But design is about everything”.
Collecting things comprises the main message of my Final Year Project. I’ve assembled a compendium of all one needs to know of collecting; heavily inspired by my own love of collecting action figures and any nerdy memorabilia I can get my hands on.
My project is about breastfeeding, our discomfort around it as a subject and the partial loss of the practice. It is also about the wish for wholehearted support of feeding mothers. My interest stems mainly from the fact that the practice meets many obstacles and, in many cases, women find it a lonely struggle, although social media has improved the support through networking with other mothers. As a student of communication and design, I like to explore societal responses to changing concepts and circumstances.
Hello, my name is Kamil Kowalczyk and I am a Visual Communication student with major interest in illustration and pretty things, also in case you don't know me - football. My project is centered about the latter. I will be taking a look at the last World Cup 2018 from a rather strange and quirky point of view using lots of funny illustrations, it will be amazing. France won, spoiler alert.

Former signwriter who has taken a meandering path into the world of visual communication. Inspired by Scandinavian design, architecture and interior design. My project is centred around the issues, that I feel currently exist, around Cork city in relation to public attitudes, blinkered psychology and also the dereliction of communication that currently permeates Cork City Council.
Hi, my name is Michael. I am a Visual Communications student. My project is a bizarre depiction of the question of online privacy; based on a bunch of real life anecdotes about occasions whereby people feel they’re phone is listening to them.
Hi my name is Nicole White, I am a 21 year old woman. My project is about gender inequality ,which is still a major issue in our world today. For my project I have decided to create a campaign which highlights the issue of gender inequality. Gender inequality is not just men mistreating women, it can be women mistreating men.
A segment of my campaign process is to show men aspects of a women’s daily life that they may not think would be gender inequality. It is important for our men to know the struggles of women so they can be understanding and fair in the future.
Men are our allies and not our enemies.

Hey my name is Sarah Arnott and I am a graphic designer and photographer. I sometimes like to dabble in a little illustration too. My project "The Book of Youghal" is a book that aims to show off Youghal as the beautiful town it is through photography and some illustration.
My name is Sarah. My project is about how the process of moving to a new house can be a very emotional and confusing time, especially for a child. This project is based on my own experience of moving to Ireland when I was 10 years old, giving a more personal connection to the project. Using a format that improves communication between the parents/guardians and the child, it will help prepare children for what they might experience through the process of moving.
My name is Sarah McManus and I am a final year Visual Communications student. My final year project deals with the topic of Euthanasia. In memory of my nan Patty, I will be setting up an organisation that gives people non-bias information on Euthanasia and where to access it safely. My project is targeted at terminally ill cancer patients and people who want to learn more about Euthanasia. In September, I plan to go on and study a masters of Marketing in CIT.
The intention of my project is to capture my journey moving from Eastern Europe to Ireland. It's to be able to represent the different barriers and obstacles that one can experience when moving from a place of familiarity to the unknown. It's to be able to capture patterns of emotions and layers of life that can form our identity.
Hello, my name is Tony and I'm a designer who focuses on illustration with a particular interest in children's book illustrations. My project is an illustrated storybook for kids featuring strong, revolutionary Irish women during the 1916 Rising. I chose this topic to highlight the important role women played in the Rising, as they can often be overshadowed by their male counterparts.
