What is the course about?

This course explores the concepts, practices and resources used in fine art digital photography with particular reference to narrative. It develops the student’s knowledge and practice of visual storytelling through photography. Emphasis is on project work where students develop a topic or theme and apply a narrative approach to create a sequential series of photographic images. Students are expected to develop their projects outside of class-time for group analysis and discussion within class time.

Accreditation

Students have an opportunity to submit their work for assessment should they wish to gain the CIT Single Module Certification.

This course is accredited 5 credits on the National Framework of Qualifications, where 60 credits equate to the workload of a full-time academic year on a degree programme. It may be possible, therefore, to use these credits as part of one of our full-time programmes in the Department of Fine Art and Applied Art. Students interested in pursuing this option should contact crawford.enquiries@mtu.ie
