Many aspects of our way of life at present has inspired this work.
Artists Pauline Gibbons and Catherine Murray discuss their project Re-Engage with Liam Kelleher MTU Gallery Graduate Resident 2020-21.
Many aspects of our way of life at present has inspired this work.
Our world is rapidly changing, and our trust now lies with science and hope for the future. The use of scientific and organic materials alludes to nature and the principals found within it, as well as within the human body. The work will explore the transparency and delicacy of the materials, which link a beginning and end achieved by the translucency of tubes and the filtering of light. It brings to light the interconnected systems that keep our environment in order.
Through the intricate combination of objects, the work references the use of scientific materials which become vessels for the organic. The piece strives to re-engage the senses using containers of information. These objects are created for a specific purpose. They have meaning and significance only within that context. They are created with aesthetic considerations, with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship.

Artist C.V.:
John Berger wrote that ‘images were first made to conjure something that was absent’ and this concept is fundamental to my art practice. The materiality and the process of my practice or interogations play with the notion of creating temporary situations using shadow and light, reflections and refractions through the combination of purposefully sourced materials and curiosity. My work is a collection of images, some of which I borrow from nature, the overlooked, and I use a combination of print, book art, paint, drawing, projection and sculpture to explore new ideas and to re-represent
