The graduating class of 2021 of the M.A. in Art Therapy are proud to exhibit some of their art work in MTU Gallery window space at 46 Grand Parade from 22 October - 8 November 2021.
Looking In is an aptly named exhibition and will take place in the window space of the gallery (which is partially closed due to Covid-19 restrictions). The title is also a reflection of the experience of training to be an Art Therapist, and the inner reflection that takes place during the 2-3 year programme.
The students in this show are an amazing group of women who have journeyed together in their experience in becoming art therapists. This included extensive self-reflection, many group workshops and exploration of the therapeutic relationships. This time was filled with deep learning and wondering about one’s real self and others. Many defences were lowered as the students learned to become comfortable with their vulnerability and truth. While each piece of work represents a unique perspective and expression there is a synchronicity throughout the approach of each artist. This echoes the shared group experience.
