AREAS OF EXPERTISE: Sculpture/Contemporary Fine Art/Installation /Public Art/Art in the Public Realm/Socially Engaged Art Practice /Film/Video/Performance Practices & Casting Technologies
James L Hayes has a diverse art practice, creating sculptures, sculptural installations, durational cast-iron performances, he also creates films, alongside making large scale sculptural commissions and socially engaged public art projects and is the project founder & director of The IRON-R Project (2012 to 2022). Hayes exhibits nationally & internationally, most recently at The Glucksman Gallery, Cork , The Regis Center for Arts University of Minnesota, Franconia Sculpture Park, Minnesota, USA, Caponi Sculpture Park, USA, and at the McNally School of Fine Art at La Salle College of Creative Arts, Singapore.
Recent commissions have been created for The Office of Public Works(OPW), The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Cork County Council & Mayo County Council. Other recent works were exhibited at the MART Gallery, Dublin, The UNO Gallery, New Orleans, Art Market Budapest & The SUPERMARKET Art Fair, Stockholm.
He has been a resident artist at the IMMA, Dublin, The Tyrone Guthrie Centre, Serde Residency, Latvia, he has received numerous awards from the Arts Council of Ireland, Culture Ireland, Cork City Council, Cork County Council etc. He is a graduate of TUS The Limerick School of Art & Design, De Montfort University, Leicester & University College London, UK.
