Join us on Friday 23rd September for Culture Night 2022 in our iconic 19th century building at 46 Grand Parade, Cork City!
This year, MTU Crawford College of Art & Design (MTU CCAD) hosts activities by MTU alumni, students, staff and retired staff in our iconic 19th century building and MTU CCAD campus at 46 Grand Parade.
5-5:30pm - TALK / We will begin the evening with a talk by Brendan Goggin, Registrar Emeritus of CIT, on the layered history of this building. Email crawfordcollegegallery@mtu.ie to registrar a space.
5-6pm – DROP IN WORKSHOP / Join Creativity & Change to reimagine Cork as an inclusive, regenerative city guided by the Sustainable Development Goals. This hour long, drop-in, interactive workshop is suitable for all ages. Come play with our new SDG Town creative activity pack, which was designed by a group of past participants in collaboration with Development Perspectives and the WeCreate Fab Lab at Cloughjordan Eco Village.
6pm – 6:30pm – ARTIST IN CONVERSATION - The main gallery hosts an exhibition of new works by artist, Donal Moloney, lecturer at MTU Crawford College. For Culture Night, Donal will host a conversation about his work with artist Kevin Mooney at 6pm in the Gallery. Places are limited email: crawfordcollegegallery@mtu.ie to registrar a space, seats to be taken on a first come first serve basis.
7pm - Join Chriszine Backhouse talk about the transformative impact of empathy in Playback theatre, including a short film about our work with the Irish Refugee Council. 7:00pm in the 1st floor Grand Parade lecture room - We will also offer a taster performance that explores the question "Do you feel like a global citizen?" as we trace our connection to the people and places that most urgently need the Sustainable Development Goals to be realized. 7–7:30pm – ARTIST IN CONVERSATION - microGALLERY hosts Is Mise, a project by MTU CCAD alumnus Nic Flanagan, supported by MTU Arts Office Connect Le Chéile Arts Fund. For Culture Night join us at 7pm for an artist talk where Nic will discuss this project.
5-9pm – Visit the open studios of the MA: Art & Process on the 2nd floor.
5-6 & 6:30-9pm – View our new exhibition with work by Donal Moloney
