Location: This course is currently based in the Envision Centre, Sober Lane, Cork City, with some classes taking place on the main Bishopstown Campus.

Unique Course & Location

The BA (Hons) Photography with New Media, captures a unique balance of the practice and theory of photography, video and digital media. You will learn the technical, professional and business skills required to set up, run successful projects and work in the media Industries.

The course is run in its own building uniquely situated near the river Lee in Cork City, overlooking Sober Lane. It is self-contained with its own dedicated large studio spaces, specialist equipment store and up to date hardware and software.

* There is no portfolio requirement for this course. 

 

What is the course about?

The BA (Hons) in Photography with Media Producction (formely Photography with New Media) is a dynamic, practice-led course that prepares students to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world, combining technical skills, creative process, and production management, complemented with operational, cultural and business skills.

 

Designed to reflect the changing landscape of professional photographic and lens-based media practice, this programme combines traditional, digital & emerging techniques with high-end equipment & studios, offering a distinct professional emphasis throughout.

What will you be doing?

Students engage in a wide range of photographic and media practices, from studio-based portraiture and documentary to moving image, digital media production, camera fundamentals, lighting techniques, post-production and experimental formats. The curriculum fosters an in-depth understanding of visual language and narrative construction, equipping students to communicate meaningfully across media platforms whether it be for print, screen or social media whilst designing for a broad range of audiences.
